Microsoft Photo Synth Technology
January 19th, 2009
Microsoft offers a photo technology that allows anyone to take pictures of a central subject and produce a 3D or 2D collage of your pictures. This is a free service that is offered through it’s website located at photosynth.net. The process is simple, you take pictures that each have at least 50% overlap. You are encouraged to take your images from different angles along with the overlap. It is a fun and easy way to use your digital camera or mobile phone. This technology works only with Windows XP ( SP2 or SP3 ) and Vista, 256MB of memory is a bare minimum; 1GB is recommended, a minimum 32MB of graphics memory required, 64MB or more is recommended. It runs on some DirectX6 capable cards and all DirectX7 cards. And web browsers, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3. The down side is that everything that you “synth” is public, for everyone to see your work. Learn more about this technology at photosynth.net.
